How Our Male Founders Celebrate IWD & How You Can Too
IWD is something we don't take lightly. After all, we've built an entire powerhouse – SORA – based on women's empowerment. So, as men, how do we celebrate IWD and do our part?
The boys behind the brand let us in on what it means to them.
DAN | CO-FOUNDER
What does International Women's Day mean to you?
To me it's about celebrating women in all their forms of beauty whether that be in the person they embody, the amazing things they are able to achieve for themselves, their families and the energy they bring to all those around them.
'Breaking the bias' (the message of IWD 22) – how are you breaking the bias?
For me and for our brand I feel we're breaking the bias by consciously making the decision to avoid putting women in a box. My/our perspective is that each woman should feel empowered in their own right, and in what ever sense empowerment means to them.
Who's a woman in your life you want to highlight this IWD?
Our WPN and SORA factory owner, May. This woman is an inspiration to not only myself but so many people. She is relentless and determined and yet the most kind hearted and thoughtful person. This I believe is the reason she has become so successful in business and especially in such a male dominated industry and country like China.

How do you suggest anyone and everyone can support the messaging and purpose of IWD?
As a man, I think the biggest way I can support the message is to gain a greater understanding of what equality means for the women in my life through asking questions, and to actively listen to their perspective. To also stand and speak up and call if I see gender discrimination happening within my community.
Who's a woman in your life you want to highlight this IWD and why?
My sister. She is a strong, kind and empowered women who has always been a great support for me and I truly cherish the relationship we have.
What's your message to your male community on the importance of IWD?
Ask more questions from a place of genuine curiosity.

What does International Women's Day mean to you?
As a father of two young girls, I want nothing more than for them to grow up in a world where they feel empowered and unrestricted by bias. International Women's Day theme is about bringing awareness to breaking the bias building to towards that future.
How do you suggest anyone and everyone can support the messaging and purpose of IWD?
By been an active member in the discussion around what you can do to break bias, by sharing content from members of the communities that are taking a stand and by actively listening and understanding the story and messages shared during this event.
Who's a woman in your life you want to highlight this IWD and why?
My wife has given our two daughters the best upbringing possible, is a strong role model and has inspired me to be a better father, all in the face of constant outward pressures and judgement and internal feeling of not been good enough.
As a brand and movement for everyone, every purchase has a purpose. We're here to support and empower through our community initiatives and events where mental health is put on loud, and is exercised in the same sense as physical health. Check-out our socials for the next WPN & SORA event.
