Whenever you engage in any exercise program, you are striving towards success. Success can mean different things to different people. Each person has their own set of goals they are determined to achieve. However the route to success in fitness is usually the same for everyone. Whether you like it or not, there are some things you must go through to reach success.

One of the most important factors towards success is that you can’t reach it when you’re the only person on your team. You need to establish a solid support system that will continuously push and encourage you during the tough times.

You can’t reach success without first fully embracing it. That means also embracing the aching muscles and strains after a particularly challenging workout. There are no shortcuts to success so be honest with yourself when considering your diet and workout habits. Envisioning how you’ll look and feel in the future is a great tool to get you over the finish line.

Success doesn’t occur overnight, it takes a lot of time and a lot of practice to finally achieve it. When looking for success in your fitness regime, it’s important that you learn to master the five basic human movements: push, pull, hinge, squat, loaded carries, and “floor” work. Each of these movements takes time to conquer, especially if you’re combating a lifetime of mistakes and bad habits to make up for. Learning to correctly execute these movements is an important key to unlock success.

Both mental and physical strength are extremely important in your journey. With great strength comes greater ease in achieving your goals. Improve your strength in all areas such as flexibility, cardio and mobility and success will be yours!

The only thing in the way to you achieving success is you! Sometimes this may come from the wrong type of attitude. Many believe that the only way to achieve success is to deny yourself some of life’s basic pleasures like dessert or time with your loved ones when instead you should be in the gym. Just remind yourself that while dessert may not be the best idea now but it can certainly come later once you have gained some control over your goals.

Once you have completed these basic steps to success, there’s only one thing left to do: celebrate! You’ve worked hard and fulfilled your goals, you deserve to treat yourself! Having a fantastic reward to look forward to at the end of your journey will also keep you motivated through your workouts.
